About avhentai.net: An Independent Text Wiki for Adult Readers
avhentai.net is an independent, text-only reference wiki about hentai manga, doujinshi and the wider culture of Japanese adult comics. It is written for adult readers who want clear, factual information about the history, craft, law and legal buying of these works.
The domain’s history
The avhentai.net domain previously hosted a different website. That site is no longer in operation, and the current wiki has no connection to its content or operators. In October 2026 the domain was relaunched as the reference wiki you are reading now.
Visitors arriving from old links or bookmarks should be aware that:
- No video is hosted on this site.
- No scans, downloads or explicit images are hosted.
- No links to unofficial copies of any work are provided.
The site consists entirely of written articles.
What the wiki covers
The wiki aims to explain rather than to display. Its articles cover:
- Definitions and culture – what hentai manga and doujinshi are, and how the terms are used. Start with what is hentai manga.
- History – from Edo-period shunga to the digital era.
- Events and circles – Comiket, Comitia and how self-publishing groups work.
- Law – Article 175 of the Japanese Penal Code, mosaic censorship and international differences.
- Craft – reading conventions, art techniques, archetypes and tags.
- Buying legally – the main legitimate stores and why they matter. See buying hentai legally.
- New developments – including the debate around AI tools in doujin art.
Articles aim for a dry, encyclopaedic tone. They describe subjects without explicit description of sexual content.
Editorial principles
The wiki follows a short set of principles:
- Adults only. All characters discussed are fictional adults. Content involving minors is not covered under any circumstances.
- No real people. The wiki does not sexualise real individuals.
- Legal purchase. Readers are encouraged to buy from legitimate stores that pay creators. Piracy is not supported.
- Accuracy over detail. Where facts are uncertain, articles stay general rather than invent figures or quotations.
- Disclosure. Commercial connections are stated plainly where relevant.
Ownership and disclosure
avhentai.net is run by the team behind AiNudeGirls, an AI image service. This connection is disclosed on the pages where it is relevant, including the article on AI and doujin art. The wiki is written as an independent reference, and its articles are not product descriptions.
Age requirement
This site is intended only for adults aged 18 or over, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher. If you are under that age, please leave. Laws on adult material vary between countries, and readers are responsible for complying with the law where they live.
Corrections and contact
The wiki is updated periodically, and each article shows the date it was last revised. Corrections, clarifications and suggestions are welcome. When reporting an issue, please state the page, the specific passage and, where possible, a reliable source. There is no comment section; corrections are reviewed when pages are revised.
Requests from rights holders concerning names or descriptions of their works are handled promptly.
